The Lino Lakes Ambassador Program empowers young women in the community to become confident leaders through mentorship, volunteerism, and educational scholarships. I became involved in the program in 2014 when I was selected to be an ambassador for the city and have maintained involvement by volunteering my time as Marketing and Design Lead. I create a variety of materials such as the program's logo, brochure, name tags, candidate signs for use in the parade, and other items as needed. I designed the original logo in 2016, and rebranded my own work in 2018.
2019 Rebrand
The organization decided to remove the "Miss" from the title to reduce confusion about the program. "Miss" gave the impression of a beauty pageant, and we wanted to separate ourselves from that image. There are subtle changes in the colors. The blues are now more subdued, calm, and professional. I refined the shape of the crown, making cleaner edges but still preserving the recognizable form. I also updated the typography, adding a clean font to create clearer hierarchy in the name and make it more modern. I enjoyed going back to my original work and applying all that I've learned since then.
2016 Logo Creation and Original Brochure
The many lakes in the area that give the city its name inspired me. I also wanted the logo to be elegant, so I created overlapping waves that make a flourish under the name. The crown is also a significant symbol in the program. In the ambassador world, many can identify the ambassador's city just by the look of the crown. I decided to create a vector crown shape to use as secondary imagery. I created this brochure using Adobe Illustrator. It was a challenge to fit all of the information needed on the pages, and it required a lot of problem solving to accomplish.
